Terrific time @ Gomantak

Gomantak is an ancient name for Goa. Picked that one up long time ago. Why that is written here is that it has been the place for fun and frolic for my family along with inlaws during the past week.
I joined my in-laws in BGM a couple of Sat mornings ago and after I had freshened up, we all got set for travelling to Goa around 10am. I drove a Qualis and my bro-in-law took the Fiesta. He had plans of staying over a couple of days extra for completing some unfinished business. The drive was excellent. We had heard that the Anmod Ghat road was now fully well done after the past few years of Govt apathy which had led to many travellers to Goa avoid the route.
We went past Khanapur about 30kms away from BGM and drove towards Londa. At Londa we took a diversion to the right towards Anmod. The road so very scenic with lush green foliage even in the middle of summer. Finally we reached Anmod where there is nothing but a trademark hotel of yesteryears where we took a short break to stretch our legs and answer nature's call. On the way we came across a few roadside vendors selling jambul ( the dark violet fruit which is sour and leaves your mouth violet) which we tasted and then picked up a few to savour enroute. As soon as we crossed the checkpost at Anmod, the ghat section began and what serene beauty unfolded as nature revealed itself at the various turns by the road. These sections are best during monsoons.
At Molem, where the ghat sections ended into Goa, the humidity picked up and we let the A/C cool us down. Finally at Ponda, we stopped at hotel to have lunch since it was already 1:30pm. After a quick bite, we drove down to Margao and then towards Colva beach near which we settled at our flat.
A small siesta later, we packed all the things to rush towards the beach and boy it was fun with our little ones on the beach creating a lot of strucures and then destroying it with glee. A few of us did parasailing on the beach which was fantastic. What an experience!!! Finally after the sun had set and the bodies tired, we started back towards our parked vehicles. A quick change of clothes later, we went to Martins restaurant about 15 mins drive away and had a great meal.
The next morning, we got all set to go to Heritage Village Resort where we spent the next 3 days and 2 nights enjoying the resort and the swimming pool during the day followed by the DJ's and the Magic shows in the evenings just before dinner. The pool was packed all day since the highlight was a bar by the pool where beer and selected IMFL was free for those who wanted to have a drink by the pool. We never realized how the days passed and only when we got back to BGM a few days later, that others made us aware of the sun tan that we had absorbed.
Since the kids had a gala time at Goa, the law of averages caught up with all falling sick with fever and cough with throat pains in BGM.
After they recuperated on Friday, we travelled back to BLR that night and reached the following morn. The weekend was in complete rest and today the schools have begun for the kids. Boy, what traffic on the road, since I guess the parents were more eager to be at school than the children. When will civilization dawn on civilized people?
